How to Use the MATOW espresso hand tamper
STEP 1: Grind your coffee beans to the appropriate fineness for your espresso machine. Make sure your portafilter basket is clean and dry.
STEP 2: Distribute the grounds evenly in the portafilter using your preferred method.
STEP 3: Place the tamper on top of the grounds in the portafilter, ensuring it’s level and centered.
STEP 4: Apply downward pressure on the tamper until you feel the calibrated spring mechanism compress. Once the spring is compressed, hold the tamper in place for a few seconds to allow the coffee to settle and the puck to form.
STEP 5: Release the tamper and lift it straight up, without twisting or tilting it. The puck should be smooth and evenly compressed.
STEP 6: Insert the portafilter into the espresso machine and begin the extraction process.
