When is the best time to take EC readings?

Read at 30 mins and up to 90 mins after watering for accurate EC levels. EC levels constantly change as water is consumed. Measure EC between waterings as the medium is drying out.

When should water content be measured?

Measure Water Content at any time to help guage the time it takes for your grow medium to dry back. Fully saturated, mediums like coco and rockwool will read a maximum of 70% water content.

How do EC levels and moisture content levels work?

EC is a measurement of salt levels which conduct tiny amounts of electricity in soil. Water content dilutes the salts and lowers EC.

Why do my EC readings constantly change?

Depending on your grow medium, and how quickly it dries, or how large and thirsty plants are, EC levels will change constantly as the water content is also changing.

What use is the SOLUS if EC is always changing?

EC levels should be set within a range based on your grow style. Aggressive plant growers set high EC level targets. They use the SOLUS to pinpoint the maximum safe EC level then they water and feed again.
